Curriculum

Purpose

Ms. Sarratt's curriculum, can be found on this webpage for download as well as discussed in her upcoming blog, which is also on this website. This curriculum is designed as a supplement and addition to standard repertoire, etudes and studies.

Warm Ups - Sound Production and Left Hand

The warm ups are designed for the very beginning student to the advanced student and beyond.

They are a supplement to the student’s study of scales, etudes and other studies.

The warmups are designed to enhance and improve a player’s sound as well as left hand and bow technique and practice routine.

Many start with open strings and then progress to adding the left hand.

Bow Technique

The exercises for bow technique, develop the bow technique from the very beginning, so that the student will be able to play very difficult passages, play with a beautiful sound as well as playing musically. It takes good bow technique to produce a wonderful sound as well as playing musically.

Learning to Read Music for the Beginner

My music that Ms. Sarratt has composed and designed, greatly assists the very beginning student in learning to read music.  With violin there are several components of reading music and playing that music on the violin. The special arrangements help the students with these tasks.

Shifting

Shifting exercises, are designed to improve the student’s shifting so that it will become fluid, relaxed and accurate.

Vibrato

Learning Vibrato correctly, is important as vibrato can enhance the players tone, technique as well as musical phrasing.

Double Stops

Double stop exercises help a student become very accurate with their double stops developing accurate intonation as well as producing a beautiful sound..

How to Practice

In order for a student or a professional to achieve their goals, they must practice correctly.  Exercises will help the student achieve their goals.

Audition Preparation

As student’s often need to audition to play with organizations such as orchestras, local, state and regional competitions, as well as music camps and schools and universities, proper audition preparation is required to achieve the best result.
